5.0 out of 5 stars Everything she needed, January 10, 2008

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She is the president of our community association and setting up a PA system for outdoor community events was just not practical. Being herd above the crowd was a big problem as she has a fairly soft voice. This was the perfect solution, especially since the included microphone means that she doesn't have to have the horn up in front of her face and it has plenty of power to be herd above the din.

2.0 out of 5 stars So So mega phone, March 26, 2007

I had to repurchase this product, because my first one broke, the hinge that they use to attach the battery door to is pathetic, seriously a design flaw. However, with some Epoxy glue and a different type of hinge you can modify the origional product to be something better. In this case you really get what you pay for... Its dirt cheap plastic and it breaks easily. I wouldnt recommend getting this unless you need something dirt cheap and only plan on using it a few times.

I use megaphones at a youth camp and have used four or five through the years. This one provides plenty of power and the clarity of voice is better than most of the other bullhorns. Unlike most, it does not have a trigger that must be squeezed to talk, rather it uses a simple on and off switch. Though I initially didn't like that feature, I got used to it and eventually liked it. The external microphone can be helpful, though it would be nice if the bullhorn had a clip to hook the microphone to (like some of the old Radio Shack bullhorns) when not in use. Without the clip, it's necessary to try to find a place in the pocket or somewhere to store the microphone.

On the minus side--
- The battery connection occasionally didn't work and the bullhorn on those occasions appeared to be dead. However, a slap the side of the battery compartment usually got it going again.
- The strap broke off during camp.
- At the end of camp I dropped the bullhorn and haven't... Read more
