This is a higher pitched whistle than the Fox 40 coaching whistle. It also requires you to blow a little harder to get any sound out of it. But the label says it can be heard from farther away than the coaching whistle. The card it came on lists a number of armies that depend on this whistle. The sound and function is similar to the Micro safety whistle.

This whistle is very loud , every hiker and kayaker should have one for safety reasons.If lost or in trouble a good whistle is worth it's weight in gold!

The Fox 40 classic is the finest whistle ever made. The pealess design allows for sharp staccato bursts of audible sound perfect for getting people's attention even after it's been submerged. It's size (ever more so with the Fox 40 mini)and smaller chamber volume makes it easier to blow higher decibles than with larger "super whistles." As a lifeguard of several years, I have come across several sub par whistle designs that only claim to be the best. The Fox 40 actually delivers.
